First Grade Wrap Up–Naim

Naim

Age 6, First Grade

Naim, 1st Grade Year

Highlights:

  • Naim went from not yet being able to recognize all the letters in the alphabet to being able to read simple books. HUGE improvement in reading.
  • Naim continues to struggle with handwriting but can more easily remember what the letter shapes are. He still does a lot of reversals.
  • Naim has learned a lot of math on his own in general contexts of his life. He does well in homeschool math and understands the concepts of operations. He has some of the more simple math facts memorized (doubles, plus one, plus 0, etc.) He can skip count by 2, 10, 100. He understands basic fractions and data.
  • He understands many concepts in science, especially astronomy.
  • He performed in two plays, sang in a church service, and performed several mini-performances in drama.
  • He is mature and helpful, pitching in without being asked. He has a keen understanding of others emotions and has a lot of empathy and acts appropriately upon the concepts of empathy.
  • He is organized and curious. His interests include soccer, acting, board and card games, bionicles and legos.
