Today was King Tut/Science Center day. We tried to do some prep work before hand with books and videos about ancient egypt, mummies and pharaohs. We saw an iMax movie first thing about mummies and tombs. We then had some time to fart around the museum before our time to see King Tut.

King Tut was interesting in that you had to think about the actual people that carved these statues and stuff like, 3500 years ago. People whose names have been long forgotten sat there and held these things and carved them out of alabaster or sandstone or wood or whatever. They made them from the earth based on what they saw in their minds eye, a pharaoh, an animal, a baby…and now you are looking at it. I tried to get the kids to sort of see it this way, I don’t know if they did. Naim tried, he would listen to the audio guide and take his time. Aaron was more like “ooh! gold!” But it was ok for their ages, I think.

We had fun at the water area after. Everything there was so 60s retro modern. After, we went home and went swimming at the hotel pool. We did a 7-11 run for dinner. Aaron was very excited about that because 7 11 has slushies. He was telling everyone on the way down where we were going. I said, “You don’t have to tell everyone where we are going, Aaron.” So we walk past the hotel guy at the front desk and he goes, “Hi! We are going…someplace else…that I can’t tell you about!” Oh, yeah. That is much better, Aaron.

I have no pictures of King Tut because they took my stuff, but here are the other pics below. Avery went to Goddard today with Nik, but the Freely seems to have not made it to me, so I don’t know what he did.
